I have responded to some of the comments on my Friday post "There Ain’t No Nothin’," putting the responses in a comment (#29).
I’m never quite sure what should be a comment and what should be a posting and will cheerfully take instruction on the point. This one, when I see it on-screen, looks too long for a comment, and probably should have been a posting. In any case, thanks to all commenters for taking the trouble.
Well yes, in fact, Aquinas did write a lengthy commentary on the Physics; the relevant portions may be found here.
It’s not surprising that you weren’t able to make heads or tails out of the argument, since you picked it up in medias res, so to speak. The Physics is a comprehensive work; the later portions cannot be understood without learning the first principles upon which it is built.
Esteemed Mike I !
Can you disclose your personal level of qualification in Physics ?
Your truly, Florida resident.
Bradlaugh,
I love your pessimism. It reminds me of another scripture that might resonate with you. Ecclesiastes 1:18
“For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.”
I think stylistically it should have been a post with the comments you were responding to quoted and the majority of it below the fold, if you had the time. If not then since you were directly responding to individual comments making it a comment was the right thing to do.
