Giving science its due?

Nadya Suleman’s publicists refer to her “eight tiny miracle children,”  which we should celebrate because they will be raised in a “Christian, caring environment.”  I assume her PR team means a medical miracle.  Taxpayers’ potential bill for the octoplets continues to rise.

Watching that interview, I thought, “So this is what they mean by ‘Crazy as a sh*thouse rat.'”

  2. Prof Frink says:

I don’t understand, she has 14 children on welfare and she has a PR team? Call Obama, tell him to bring his scalpel.

  3. Tom Piatak says:

Somehow, I don’t see how Christianity is to blame for Nadya Suleman. The world’s largest Christian denomination does not accept the morality of the technology Suleman used to have her octuplets, and orthodox Christians of all denominations do not approve of conceiving children outside of wedlock, even though they would also disapprove of aborting such chilldren.

Maybe this is what Pelosi had in mind when she made her comment about putting contraception in the stimulus bill.

  5. David Hume says:

if more women did not undergo selective abortion there would be a lot more of this.

  6. The Editrix says:

“if more women did not undergo selective abortion there would be a lot more of this.”

Is this the voice of the “Secular Right”?

  7. Polichinello says:

    Tom Piatak,

I don’t think Heather is blaming Christianity for Suleman’s behavior (at least I don’t read that). She’s criticizing the general tendency to attribute good outcomes to God instead of medical science.

    And you know this, how?

are you a moron? the more fetuses the greater likelihood of prenatal and neonatal problems. which is why they recommend selective abortion for multiples, usually down to twins. sorry for being harsh, but that’s just the data.

now, some of you morons might think i’m making a morality judgment. e.g., the moron “the editrix.” i’m not. if you think abortion is immoral, of course you will oppose selective abortion. but barring improved biomedical technologies that means more costs all things being equal.

Not that jackass. I assumed, wrongly I guess, that your statement was more substantive than selective abortion reduces N-tuple births and neonatal problems (duh). That is hardly worth mentioning, unless it thrills you speak the obvious.

Heddle, i know your oeuvre well. saying you were a moron was just an insult, you’re not a moron. but, you are a jackass. so i can’t help but find it funny that you accuse me of being one. you reap what you sow.

I’ll have to get back to you. I’ve long forgotten the appropriate response when faced with the I’m rubber, you’re glue… comeback.
