Behind the times. I did not know. A question of loyalty:
Reportedly pregnant (her husband is British historian Niall Ferguson), she says she will raise her children to be faithful to the United States above all.
“If my child were to join the military, to pay taxes, to commit to public service in any shape or form, it’s not going to be public service to Islam or Somalia, it’s going to be American,” she says. “I don’t know if you can imagine how radical that sounds. If my mother were to hear this or my father or any Somalian, they’d think this is madness. This is blasphemy. This is totally infidel.”
In other forums, Bradlaugh writes about Somali immigrants often. Perhaps he can contrast between the kind we want, and the usual kind.
Eeesh, I’m into Islam-bashing as much as the next islamophobe, but, God, I’m getting a little tired of this skinny broad and her infidel act.
puts bread on the table 😉 though i agree the schtick is getting unoriginal.
If you say what you believe in public often enough, become well know for saying it, and get called in to say it again by people who agree with you, then anything becomes a “schtick”. I still think it has value for people who may not have heard her before. If you then want to move on and hear what other people have to say, that’s good too.
I found her first work rather moving, but she doesn’t really seemed to have moved beyond talking about herself. Compare this to Ibn Warraq, who wrote “Why I am not a Muslim”, and then went on to edit a comprehensive critique of the Koran. I guess that doesn’t get you a nice office at AEI, though.
So the browning of America continues.
“I guess that doesn’t get you a nice office at AEI, though” Doesn’t do your life insurance premiums any favors, either.
