Was the Tucson shooter inspired by the American Renaissance race-realist website/newsletter? The Obamarrhoids planted a suggestion that he was; Fox News took the bait; American Renaissance denied and disproved the slur; now the accusers seem to have backed off.
This little episode left me wondering whether perhaps the liberal Left has been infiltrated by American Renaissance moles.
Consider: Every February American Renaissance has a conference. Last year’s was nearly derailed by a leftist mob phoning in death threats to employees of the conference hotel. I blogged about it on Secular Right at the time.
Now this year’s conference is coming up, and the Left is once again giving American Renaissance some timely free publicity (of which commodity, please be reminded, there is no such thing as bad).
Coincidence? I think not.
(I recently did a Q&A with Taylor here.)
I disagree that in politics all publicity is good.
Sarah Palin has gotten some (deservedly) bad publicity for saying that “reloading” was an appropriate response to a political setback. It’s as if she’s implying that her position is the Real America, and anything else constitutes an act of tyranny justifying violent insurrection.
By the way, what WAS that business in Summer 09 when people protested outside health care town hall meetings carrying firearms?
I think it’s eminently clear now that Loughner wasn’t inspired by anything but his own dementia.
I agree with Randy that Palin’s publicity is bad, in the sense that it’s not going to make her a more attractive contender for the presidency in 2012. Her base still adores her, but I don’t think she’s going to become more popular with independents, those Republicans who aren’t already her fans, and disaffected Democrats.
Her video today is one of the best speeches I have seen in some time. And to criticize her for uttering “reloading” betrays no knowledge of the left’s transgressions e.g. Obama’s “if the enemy brings a knife, we will bring a gun” and what of the countless hangings of Repubs in effigy.
I dont recall a single such transgression by any teapartiers (save those leftist frauds who were conducting black flag efforts).
The SPLC writeup is hilarious.
Maybe the Keystone Kops will give free publicity to Jared at Subway, heh, heh.
