I’m surprised no one commented here. That passage says quite a bit. For one, directed to those conservatives who like to appeal to “tradition,” riding folks out of town on a rail is asmucha traditional American value as is political liberty.
I could be wrong, but I think the truly rigid on both sides, or all sides, like to ride their opposite numbers out of town on a rail. The left devised hate speech as a means to rid the public forum of anyone who disagreed with them, and the religious right would like to cast into outer darkness anyone secular, left or right.
