Atheism = subprime meltdown

Mad Max and the Meltdown. This WSJ piece is very strange…pinning financial irresponsibility on the negative externalities of secularism. Has he heard of prosperity theology? Has religion inoculated America’s most pious ethnic group, blacks, from the folly of taking out loans they couldn’t afford?

    Total rubbish. Greenspan and Bernanke, neither of them secular I think, expanded money supply irresponsibly from 1995-2008. Bankers, hedge funders etc then reacted as they always do, with greed, short termism and foolishness. No secularism was involved, unless you count secularism as refusal to believe in the Gold Standard.

    Steve Sailer has begun to document the interconnections between Bush’s subprime minority housing effort and his effort to bankroll churches and ministers with Federal dollars via “compassionate conservatism”.

    I think theists believe that the sole purpose and meaning of human life is to attain salvation. Ergo, if you don’t believe in God, your life has no purpose or meaning.

    Of course the thesis is ridiculous, but I don’t think Greenspan or Bernanke are religious. Greenspan used to be a Rand acolyte.

    Robert Ingersoll is one of my favorite essayists and lecturers. His works deserve wider dissemination in modern times. ◄Dave►
