{"id":6700,"date":"2011-12-20T19:06:35","date_gmt":"2011-12-20T19:06:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/?p=6700"},"modified":"2011-12-20T19:06:35","modified_gmt":"2011-12-20T19:06:35","slug":"why-ron-paul-will-not-run-as-a-third-party-candidate-in-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/why-ron-paul-will-not-run-as-a-third-party-candidate-in-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Ron Paul will not run as a third party candidate in 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/1211\/70674.html\">Will Ron Paul kill the caucuses?<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The most troubling eventuality that Iowa Republicans are bracing for is that Paul wins the caucuses only to lose the nomination and <b>run as a third-party candidate in November<\/b> \u2014 all but ensuring President Obama is re-elected.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/220px-Rand_Paul_official_portrait_112th_Congress_alternate.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/220px-Rand_Paul_official_portrait_112th_Congress_alternate.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"220px-Rand_Paul,_official_portrait,_112th_Congress_alternate\" width=\"220\" height=\"279\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6701\" \/><\/a>The Paul family doth protest their Christianity, so they must know that their deity states that &#8220;I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me&#8230;.&#8221; If Ron Paul &#8220;pulls a Nader&#8221; then Rand Paul&#8217;s political career is poisoned. Would a father do such a thing to a son? Perhaps. But I&#8217;d bet against it. There most certainly is a family &#8220;brand,&#8221; and I am curious as to why the elder Paul would expend his son&#8217;s capital in such a quixotic quest. True, it can be argued that Ron Paul&#8217;s run for president in the Republican primaries is quixotic, but he most certainly has affected the tenor of the debate and changed the terms of discussion on many issues.
