{"id":5521,"date":"2011-03-10T20:54:39","date_gmt":"2011-03-10T20:54:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/?p=5521"},"modified":"2011-03-10T23:11:50","modified_gmt":"2011-03-10T23:11:50","slug":"the-double-standard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/the-double-standard\/","title":{"rendered":"The double standard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few years ago Markos Moulitas wrote a book, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/1936227029\/geneexpressio-20\">American Taliban: How War, Sex, Sin, and Power Bind Jihadists and the Radical Right<\/a>. This is in a long tradition of demonization of American Christian conservatives by the Left. All&#8217;s fair in love and war, but I think this tendency to make an analogy between American religious conservatives and Islamic religious conservatives is one reason that the <a href=\"http:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/2011\/03\/10\/npr-ceo-resignation-possibly-the-right-outcome-definitely-the-wrong-reason\/\">hypocrisy of white &#8220;enlightened&#8221; liberals<\/a> is rather galling to many.
