O&#8217;Rourke&#8217;s much-discussed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weeklystandard.com\/Content\/Public\/Articles\/000\/000\/015\/791jsebl.asp?pg=1\">post-election post-mortem from last month<\/a> on the failures of the organized Right. O&#8217;Rourke doesn&#8217;t quite address the themes of this site directly, but keeps brushing up close by them, starting as early as the second paragraph: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Where is this land of freedom and responsibility, knowledge, opportunity, accomplishment, honor, truth, trust, and one boring hour each week spent in itchy clothes at church, synagogue, or mosque? It lies in ruins at our feet &#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For some reason the bit about itchy clothes irresistibly puts me in mind of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cleavebooks.co.uk\/grol\/twain\/tom05.htm\">Mark Twain<\/a>, the rise and fall of whose reputational fortunes on left and right would make for a post of its own at some point. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t think anyone here has yet linked P.J.
