A visit earlier this week to the fascinating, if hagiographical, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.evitaperon.org\/eva_peron_museum.htm  \">Eva Peron Museum<\/a> in Buenos Aires has gone some way to putting that right. The undercurrents to her story are intriguing, much more so than I had expected.  <\/p>\n<p>Within a room or two of the main entrance, you find yourself contemplating blurry slo-mo footage of her funeral (accompanied by a no less evocative <em>nuevo tango<\/em> soundtrack from\u2014I\u2019d guess\u2014the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gotanproject.com\/discography\">Gotan Project<\/a>), footage that with its images of cascading flowers was reminiscent of the scenes\u2014pagan, hysterical and strange\u2014that followed another early death of a princess, that of Diana.  <\/p>\n<p>Under the circumstances, it wasn&#8217;t then too much of a surprise when, wandering on through the exhibition, I discovered that Evita had officially been given the title of \u201cSpiritual Leader of the Nation\u201d, something that might explain, well, this\u2026.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Eva-Peron-Photo-AS-20105.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Eva-Peron-Photo-AS-20105-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4483\" srcset=\"https:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Eva-Peron-Photo-AS-20105-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Eva-Peron-Photo-AS-20105-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Eva-Peron-Photo-AS-20105.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gods, goddesses and their kin will, it seems, always be with us. To think otherwise is madness.
