Give <em><a href=\"http:\/\/movies.nytimes.com\/2010\/05\/28\/movies\/28agora.html?src=me&amp;ref=arts\" target=\"_blank\">Agora<\/a><\/em> a try. This\u00a0intriguing and\u00a0ultimately very moving \u00a0film tells the\u00a0tale of Hypatia, the (atheist) mathematician and philosopher murdered by a Christian mob in 415 AD. Silver screen historical accuracy is what it is, and <em>Agora<\/em> definitely has more than a touch of hagiography about it (it also\u00a0makes some fairly remarkable&#8212;and, I suspect, unprovable&#8211;assumptions about just how far Hypatia&#8217;s mathematical research had advanced by the time of her death), but this is a story that deserves to be heard more, and with Hypatia marvelously played by Rachel Weisz, this movie is as good an introduction as you are likely to find.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/en\/8\/81\/Agoraposter09.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"306\" height=\"436\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Looking for a new movie to watch?
