{"id":3940,"date":"2010-03-09T08:32:44","date_gmt":"2010-03-09T16:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/secularright.org\/wordpress\/?p=3940"},"modified":"2010-03-09T08:37:32","modified_gmt":"2010-03-09T16:37:32","slug":"que-sera-sera","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/que-sera-sera\/","title":{"rendered":"Que Sera, Sera"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fans of grand guignol spiced with a little anticlericalism and a surprising (for its time) suggestion of religious skepticism might enjoy <em>The<\/em> <em>Duchess of Malfi<\/em>, an early 17th century play <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redbulltheater.com\/Productions\" target=\"_blank\">now being staged in NYC<\/a> for the first time in decades. \u00a0So far as the randomness of existence is concerned, I did rather like these (famous, but not to ignoramus me) \u00a0lines:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We are merely the stars&#8217; tennis balls, struck and bandied<br \/>\nWhich way please them.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Fair enough, I reckon. That theme was picked up cleverly by the director&#8217;s decision to play <em>Que Sera, Sera<\/em> as we filed out of the theater, memories of the play&#8217;s brutalized romance and piles of corpses still fresh in our minds.
