{"id":3421,"date":"2009-11-24T10:30:06","date_gmt":"2009-11-24T18:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/secularright.org\/wordpress\/?p=3421"},"modified":"2009-11-24T10:30:06","modified_gmt":"2009-11-24T18:30:06","slug":"roissy-no-alpha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/roissy-no-alpha\/","title":{"rendered":"Roissy No Alpha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m a big fan of <a href=\"http:\/\/roissy.wordpress.com\/2009\/11\/24\/primal-fever\/\">Roissy in DC<\/a> \u2014 who isn&#8217;t?\u00a0\u2014 but someone should tell him that he&#8217;s got the alpha-beta stuff all wrong.<\/p>\n<p>In hierarchical primate societies, the alpha males are the ones with <em>power<\/em>. They have legions of subordinates who help enforce their will.  They say what goes and what doesn&#8217;t.  They engage in power-challenging with each other.  They may get laid a lot, but that&#8217;s a side benefit.  Power is the thing.<\/p>\n<p>In Roissyworld, an &#8220;alpha&#8221; is single-mindedly intent on sexual conquest.  He likely has no subordinates at all\u00a0\u2014 would probably find them a hindrance, in fact.  Roissyworld is neither the hierarchical society of high primates and neolithic humans, nor the egalitarian band of paleolithic hunters.
