{"id":2982,"date":"2009-10-16T15:06:46","date_gmt":"2009-10-16T23:06:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/secularright.org\/wordpress\/?p=2982"},"modified":"2009-10-17T11:29:20","modified_gmt":"2009-10-17T19:29:20","slug":"literary-criticism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/secularright.org\/SR\/wordpress\/literary-criticism\/","title":{"rendered":"Literary Criticism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The King James Bible is (with more than a little help from William Tyndale), one of the great achievements of English literature, but enthusiastic as I am about its merits, I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;d go <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/newstopics\/religion\/6346662\/North-Carolina-church-plans-Halloween-Bible-burning.html\" target=\"_blank\">this far<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nMarc Grizzard, the pastor of Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, North Carolina, says that he and his congregation plan to burn Bibles on Halloween. Marc Grizzard, of Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, North Carolina, says that the first King James translation of the Bible is the only true declaration of God\u2019s word, and that all others are \u201csatanic\u201d. Pastor Grizzard and 14 other members of the church plan to burn copies of the other \u201cperversions\u201d of Scripture on Halloween, 31 October. The New Revised Version Bible, the American Standard Version Bible, and even the New King James Version are all pronounced to be works of the Devil by Pastor Grizzard and his followers.
