Newt Gingrich, in Virginia Beach, certainly seems to have learned to talk the talk.
More: Allahpundit. And Ken Silber has a few “pagan” quotes to recommend to Gingrich, including this from Cicero: “Orators are most vehement when their cause is weak.”
The infantilization of the GOP continues.
Neither abortion or gay marriage is a big issue to me, but I increasingly find myself becoming more accepting of both given the incantations of the witch doctors and their political sycophants, like “Newt”.
I agree. This is why the GOP and conservatism, in general, is sinking into irrelevancy. Almost everyone I know personally is moderate to liberal on social issues. Some are very pro-free market and limited government, as I am. Others tend to be more socialistic with regards to economic issues. Of all of the people I know personally, only one of them is even close to fitting the social conservative model.
Of course, I live in the Western U.S. (Pacific Northwest), which seems to consist either of libertarian types or liberal-left types.
Historically, when one party disappears (like the Whigs, for example) the other part breaks in two and a new two party system emerges. I think the GOP in its current form will disappear and the Democrats will break in two, with the more “conservative” (economically speaking) democrats forming a new party with moderate republicans.
That could happen kurt9. I certainly do not and will not belong to the party that Newt Gingrich seems to be advocating.
If you could figure out what he’s advocating. It seems to change according to the composition of his audience.
